A message from the Candidate
As the saying goes ‘If 1st you don’t succeed try try again’ which is exactly what I’m doing! Just call me the ‘Little Caboose That Could’. I’m back on the campaign ‘tracks’ again this year with hopes of being elected to 1 of the 2 open seats on the Wakefield School Committee.
My desire and passion to be the voice for OUR children has only grown since last April. I kept the promise I made to my sons- Mak, Jacob and Lawson a year ago. That I would continue to educate others about what is happening in OUR schools by exposing the truth and advocating for change!
Although my campaign focuses on 3 main topics- Parent Rights, Special Education and District Budget there are many other topics that I will ‘let the caboose loose’ and speak out against if elected to the Wakefield School Committee.

Parents’ Rights
I believe Parents have the RIGHT to…
- Know what OUR children are being taught
- Be heard
- See the OUR districts budget and spending
- Protect OUR children's Privacy
- Keep OUR children safe in OUR schools
My experience in Bylaws & Policies is valuable in reviewing current district policies and creating new policies that reflect what is currently taking place at OUR district, state and federal level. Ensuring that OUR schools run efficiently.
Special Education
OUR Special Education Department is an area if elected I would work closely with along with both the School Committees Finance Subcommittee and Policy Subcommittee to ensure that we are allocating as much funds as possible to hire Special Education teachers, paraprofessionals and specialist to serve each and every student on IEPs and 504s. 23% of students in the WPS are either on an IEP or 504.
Being able to give support to families who are trying to navigate the process of getting their child the proper diagnosis, assessment and testing done in order to get their child the services that they need is critical for their academic and social emotional success. This can be an overwhelming and scary process for a family- I know 1st hand.
Giving families the proper support and resources from the start is how we can ensure that we are providing their child with the services they need and education they deserve in the least restrictive environment.
Budgets
Working closely if elected with the School Committees Finance Subcommittee; being able to help allocate funds into areas of the district that need it but also ensuring that other areas aren’t hurt by the movement of funds.I bring experience as I have worked with budgets similar to this before.
I will be mindful of funding that comes with strings attached. Securing funding that aligns with the mission, goals and values of OUR school district.
